Re-Elect Rob Hunter
For State Representative
As Your Representative
I am your representative. First, I know what it is like to struggle to find an affordable house to raise kids in Vermont. Now retired, I’m watching my property taxes go up along with the cost of everything else. When I go to Montpelier for you, I am going for all of us to make Vermont an affordable place for young families and retirees alike.
When I vote and debate on the House floor, I consider the needs of our communities. In my first two years I built relationships among those in my party, and with those on the other side of the aisle. We are a small state and getting smaller. For example, the reality of Education Transformation, Act 73 and H955, is this: In the last 3o years we have lost 40,000 students in Vermont, and that demographic trend is continuing downward. While we absolutely need to attract families with children, jobs and industry, we need to deal with the immediate task of property tax relief. That means right-sizing our school system. There are no easy solutions. There are too many empty desks in Vermont. This is not a partisan issue—it is a Vermont issue.
Likewise the threat of an unregulated mega-sized data center in Vermont, that will bring no jobs and no income to Vermont, is not a party issue. It is a Vermont issue. Affordable housing. Jobs. Attracting families to this amazing state is not a party issue. Making sure that all of my constituents are represented is first and foremost for me. For me, for us, tackling these Vermont issues is what you elected me for.
